How broken is our labor law in the U.S.? So broken that nearly half of employers decide to knowingly violate labor law because they know the fines for doing so are pennies on the dollar compared to what employers might have to pay if their workers collectively bargained.
During the 25-year period when the number of Americans in unions was at its highest, wages rose 90%. As the number of Americans in unions has fallen over the last 40 years, wages have risen just 9%.
When workers collectively bargain, what once seemed impossible for a single worker to win by themselves can become possible. Here are 5 ways unions materially benefit workers we could fit into a one minute video.
