IOS youth team is excited to invite aged 14 and up to participate in the Youth mental health nature walk on Nov 16,2024 from 9:30 am - 2pm.Our meeting location 📍 will be Riverside park, 1011 McDougall RD NE Calgary, AB T2E 8B8. It's a 3 minutes walk from Bridgeland train station

The success of this summer camp was truly a collective effort. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this experience so special for each child, including our partner Father Lacombe High School.
This year’s IOS Uplift Summer Camp was a tremendous success, and we are deeply thankful for the chance to work with such a remarkable group of participants. Each day, their enthusiasm and joy brightened our days made the summer memorable for the IOS youth staff and volunteers.
Many older and senior refugees and Immigrants have experienced multiple traumatic events throughout their lives and continue to experience settlement and integration challenges in Canada. IOS work hard to fill that gap. Thank you @cityofcalgary
IOS hosted a fun, safe and relaxing culturally appropriate activites under it's Senior Active Living Program (SALP). Among others these included Women's Spinning Cotton competition ( ጥጥ ፈትል ውድድር) and a local Men's checker competition among (የገበጣ ውድድር ).
This morning, IOS conducted its monthly workshop for youth. This session was on finding and securing summer employment. The session addressed key topics such as mental health and stress management during the job search, providing critical tools to handle rejection &!stay positive
We are also proud to report that both the Immigrant Outreach Society and its Director received a certificate of appreciation from the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, for outstanding performance in the Empowerment of Women in the community.
These women demonstrated an inner resourcefulness and capacity to thrive. Their exposure to IOS’s own Life Skills Programming will undoubtedly enhance their capacity to thrive.
Women’s International Day 2024 was celebrated with the theme of #Diversity and #Inclusion. At the event, IOS was proud to graduate 26 Women who participated in an 8-week weekly group-based, skills-focused, language-specific, culturally appropriate, and evidence-based Life Skills
