🧵 I am a former United States Army Ranger, and US Forest Service Hotshot. Here is my take and opinion on the shipping accident in Baltimore this morning:
Thank you for your time and attention to a subject I clearly know a lot about.
Another fun engineering fact about bridges: They work better, for vehicle travel, when they are above the water Vehicles tend to not drive good under water. So bridges, ideally = above water
A bridge that is underwater, yet fully enclosed and encapsulated, and is water tight is called a tunnel
@Hsolo275 I believe Baltimore has two tunnels. At least that’s how many I’ve been in there.
@Hsolo275 Thanks for the clarification.
@Hsolo275 Whoa, whoa, whoa—-WHOA! Slow it down professor—not all of us went to MIT
@Hsolo275 Oh, God damn. I knew that. I just forgot.
@Hsolo275 Hold on dude you’re going too fast for me
@Hsolo275 I am learning so much from this thread!
@Hsolo275 Similarly, broken escalators are called stairs.
