Most AI programs are surprisingly poor at interpreting poorly formatted or overly brief queries. Here’s a technique I use: “This query is in two parts. The first part (Part A) provides history and context. The second part (Part B) contains the current question or task.” Part A – Background & Context This section can be as long as a page or two, depending on how much the AI needs to understand. The more context you provide, the more accurate and relevant the responses tend to be. Part B – The Current Query This is where you clearly state what you want the AI to do: answer a question, provide an explanation, help with a task, etc. Don’t Be Afraid to Revise If the AI doesn’t give you the kind of response you were expecting, don’t hesitate to reword your query and try again—repeatedly, if necessary. Unlike a human, the AI won’t get annoyed or impatient. Every revision helps you refine your question and gets the AI closer to what you really need.
