Nelson Peltz, the activist investor agitating to win two Disney board seats, criticized the company’s “woke” strategy: “Why do I have to have a Marvel [movie] that’s all women? Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do that? Why can’t I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need an all-Black cast?” (Via: variety.com/2024/film/news…)
@HollywoodHandle This insecure man would have no issues with a team of all men superheroes but God forbid we get a team of female superheroes. He's the type who would be against a woman being paid the same as a man.
@HollywoodHandle I dont know why do I have to sit through a movie with a full male cast? Or full white cast?
@HollywoodHandle If you have to specify that you’re not racist, sexist or any other type of -ist and then you say “but” to continue your sentence, you’re probably exactly what you deny being.
@HollywoodHandle Literally no marvel film has been all women or all black at all. You can say the main cast sure but superheros are of all backgrounds. I hate how the Internet has used the word woke for everything. Representation has always been part of stories.
@HollywoodHandle Well it’s a thing these days, and obviously that strategy isn’t winning people over since the Marvels bombed, though for other reasons I believe
@HollywoodHandle And this is why disney hates him so much and is fighting him so hard.
@HollywoodHandle Hes right. Disney wokeness is destroying the brand. Most of the world is not America. They dont need a lecture on black people. In a lot of the world black and brown people are the majority.
@HollywoodHandle I look at it like this. Kung Fu Panda 4 comes out, isn't driven by anything, and makes almost $300 mil at the box office. Disney would look at that and say "Can the panda be black and gay?" And then later be like "WHY DIDN'T OUR MOVIE MAKE MONEY?!" We don't always need agendas.
@HollywoodHandle Peltz has felt this way for awhile BTW
