The more products I build, the more aware I am of the Pareto principle. The 80-20 rule has many applications; in the context of product delivery, it means that 80% of time is spent on 20% of features. So if you feel you're close to release, you probably still have a lot to do.

In the past 1.5 months, we've been working on an iOS app to engage better on X. Why iOS? We use X a lot on the go, where AI can be quite helpful, from a casual grammar check, all the way to shaping your thoughts into a well-formed reply or post. Introducing Followergrow.

Our first paying customer for coauthor! What a wonderful feeling. I'm especially grateful for the trust, since we don't have a public live product yet, only a preorder offer.

After talking to quite a few people, we changed the approach for coauthor. We're ditching the built-in editor for now, and are focusing on the widget itself. The goal is the same: to provide convenient and frictionless access to AI features with a familiar interface. With our product, you can use the same AI companion (with quick actions and spaces, and persistent history and settings) within any app in the browser.

@joshm (CEO @browsercompany) published an insightful thread, sharing his thoughts about the present (and near future) of Consumer AI. Give it a read, if you haven't already! The part about the limitations of Consumer AI Apps resonates particularly strongly with us: "they’re all limited by being a Tab or App in someone else’s Operating System". Being a completely separate app is not the best UX, and it also limits functionality. This is why we're building coauthor, to provide an AI writing assistant that is not only more intuitive and natural to use in your writing process, it also integrates AI on the app level, for enhanced functionality like shared context, preferences, history, and more.

Gen AI is completely disrupting the way we write. Sooner than later, the vast majority of content will be created with the help of AI, or will be entirely generated.
