At a dinner in the White House, Charles III told Donald Trump: “I’ve noticed your changes to the East Wing. I must say, we Brits also, in our own modest way, tried to renovate the White House back in 1814.” I didn’t know that myself, but looked it up — in 1814, the British burned the White House. The king also gave Trump a bell from a decommissioned British submarine named “Trump”: “Ring it if you ever need us.” And this one: “You recently remarked, Mr. President, that if it weren’t for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Allow me to say that if it weren’t for us, you would be speaking French.” But the king didn’t just joke — he also reminded Trump about support for Ukraine and the role of NATO. Overall, Charles devoted his entire speech to subtly trolling Trump — in a very British way, so refined that it went right over the heads of MAGA supporters. They even applauded him for it! A British king and an American jester — that says it all. I love British humor!

Reminder of the Seve story.... Seve was a Nike player at the 1986 but rarely wore a hat when he played. They sent him shirts to wear at Augusta but no headwear. Instead, Seve bought a Masters visor and had wore it during the opening rounds (left below). In second place heading into Sunday, he knew he'd be on TV and felt the need to rep his sponsor. So he cut the Nike logo from two of his shirts and glued them over the Masters logo (right).

Cadbury eggs stacking up on shelves… reduced everywhere… and still no one’s buying. People can taste the difference. Cheaper ingredients, palm oil, higher prices it’s not the same chocolate anymore. Consumers aren’t stupid. They’ve just stopped buying it!!

The big problem with solar power has always been the same. The sun goes down and the power stops. Batteries help but they are expensive and degrade over time. This plant solved that completely differently. Instead of storing electricity it stores heat. 12,000 mirrors focus sunlight onto a tower that heats molten salt to 565 degrees. That salt holds heat for hours. After the sun sets the stored heat continues boiling water, spinning turbines and generating electricity just like a normal power plant. No batteries. No fuel. Just salt that stays hot long after dark. It has been running since 2018. Powers over 300,000 homes annually. Cuts 350,000 tons of CO2 a year. The energy storage problem that supposedly makes solar unreliable was solved in a desert in northwest China using salt. And most people have never heard of it.

Time and again Keir Starmer told us if we made him PM he’d kickstart growth and make UK fastest growing economy in G7 during the second half of the decade. He (and Reeves) have done the opposite. The last Tory Budget was March 2024 when the OBR forecast the economy would be 9% bigger by start of 2029. Labour dismissed this as akin to stagnation. Fair enough. It was hardly stellar growth. The latest OBR forecast downgrades that growth to 7% by Q1 2029. Far from kickstarting the economy he’s knocked the stuffing out of it.

BREAKING - At 2am on Tuesday, the total number of small boat migrants for the year passed 20,000. Since then another five migrant boats have been launched towards the UK. The figure is now pushing 50% higher than the same point last year.
