Government is too busy concocting opportunities for rage farming to bother providing effective datasets to support their bullshit individualization rhetoric. Enter Trash-Stat Tuesday to provide the illusion of effort on behalf of the system that actively abandoned you.
Community level threat to your health? Mask (if you want). Community level threat to the planet? Use paper straws (if you want). Genocide occurring on your dime? Write a letter (if you want). This system is not protecting you from anything, it is protecting itself from you.
DEATHS • 1 death added Mar 31 - Apr 6 • Down from 2 last week • Min death total by official numbers is 1027 • 7 in 10 reported C19 deaths have occurred since NB abandoned protections • Current definition: You can now only die of C19 in the hospital
HOSPITALIZATIONS • 11 hospitalizations, 0 under 19 • Down from 13 last week, and the lowest of the "season" • Current definition: anybody in hospital and also C19 +ve, regardless of their reason for being hospitalized
INTENSIVE CARE • 2 ICU admission, 0 under 19 • Up from 0 as last week • Current definition: anybody in ICU and also C19 +ve, regardless of their reason for being in ICU
CASES • 25 new PCR cases • Down from 36 last week and lowest of the season • POCT are not included and PCR are severely (purposefully) limited • Average positivity at 3% with some zones as low as 0% or as high as 13%
OUTBREAKS • A total of 4 outbreaks were confirmed • 3 of those are in nursing homes, the rest were in "other places" • Up from 2 last week • That's 352 outbreaks so far this "season"
"SEASON" SUMMARY (*subject to change) • 3494 PCR cases • 1448 "hospitalizations" (25 under 19) • 94 "ICU admissions" (0 under 19) • 92 "deaths" • 352 lab confirmed outbreaks
And again, here you can see the absolute farce inherent in these reports. If we are to take these numbers as representative of our communities and therefore relevant to our risk, we would calculate: 41% of cases are hospitalized. 3% of cases are admitted to ICU. 3% of cases die.
These numbers aren't representative of anything in the real world, but contrary to the broadly intentional implication that C19 is just like any other respiratory virus, it fucking ain't.
So protect each other. Power does not want people helping people. Communal care emancipates us and fosters a security in opposition to the widespread, manufactured precarity leveraged against the public by systems of oppression and extraction.
There are simple and effective actions you can take to help improve the SARS-CoV-2 situation in New Brunswick and keep yourself, your family, and your community safe.
