Important win today for independent insurance agents and brokers; a HAFA-led campaign has resulted in members of the U.S. House of Representatives submitting a letter asking CMS to delay and rework its Medicare Advantage and Part D rule
When it comes to aggressive sales tactics and seniors being misled by slick advertisements with famous athletes or TV stars, independent agents & brokers are not the problem, but rather the solution. Burdensome rules that could put agents out of business is not the answer
The rule is set to take effect on October 1. Independent agents and brokers are asking CMS for regulatory guidance and a delay of the effective date to allow the agency and stakeholders to craft regulations that will actually protect consumers from aggressive marketing/ad tactics
