Why do so many designers use profile pictures with their face turned to the side and half-hidden in the shadows?

Design briefs used to be perfect because they were imperfect but real. Now they’re pages and pages of meaningless words and imagery (which is generated slop most of the time). To anyone briefing creatives; Write the brief yourself. The output will be much better.

but if nobody knows you built an atomic bomb, what’s the point of building it? maybe convincing people you have an atomic bomb matters more than actually having one. and it’s a lot cheaper. so there’s another possibility: maybe fable 5 is actually great, just too expensive — especially geopolitically. so they go with “america first,” lock it down, and make every country chasing ai supremacy nervous. "what’s left in their chamber?" but this clearly has no effect on anthropic. they’re more concerned with humanity than users, so if anything, it’s an even bigger win for them.

the world cup has started, yet i’ve barely seen anything about it. that probably means my algo is pretty good. but it may also mean the world cup’s marketing hasn’t broken through the algo. maybe that’s the biggest downside of a tournament shared by 3 countries. nobody really owns it. especially when football isn’t the no.1 sport in any of them. there’s an old chinese saying: 1 monk carries water. 2 monks share the work. 3 monks end up with no water. even though the usa hosts 78 of 104 matches, they’re spread across 11 cities. in a federal system, that’s almost a marketing nightmare. no city owns the event. no country owns the narrative. everyone is hosting it. which means nobody really is. and i’m not even sure i understand it. i still don't quite get it. why is the new world trying so hard to host an old world sport?

How do you know your agent is still running after you close the lid? I became a bit obsessed with putting some RGB LEDs for a status indicator into the SD Card slot on my MacBook Pro. I never use that slot, so it's a perfect place.
