You know what's really funny about this? The absolutely supremacist & deluded assumption that if they can no longer afford to pay for their kids education they're automatically Grammar School smart. Money don't buy brains.
@GyllKing The right don't agonise at all about parents being unable to feed their families. So much compassion for the better off. Parents who have managed to avoid VAT on private education should be very grateful for this gift from poorer taxpayers.
@GyllKing Not all private schools only take clever kids. There are some private schools that specialise in kids with educational problems. Some private schools are single sex or single religion. Labour have not thought this through.
@GyllKing Most private schools are selective, though, so on average it will be true.
@GyllKing The ‘funny’ thing about this also is that the private educated students will be better prepared for doing test and exams. Giving them a further unfair advantage of others as well.
@GyllKing My parents were told by primary not to waste money on a private secondary for me as I’d be lucky to get 1x GCSE. Parents (from a grammar school) ignored them. After finishing school with lots of GCSEs I got a degree. We had ambition and thankfully scrimped enough. I’m so grateful
