It's incredible how out of touch some top level positions at gaming can be. They are in a bubble and don't really understand gamers...stand there unable to read the room. And these people lead Marketing.
@Grummz Maybe because they are hired thanks to who they are friends with and because they are alleged 'minorities'. And as nobody has tried to stop them in the last years, they take their immunity for granted. Main character syndrome.
@Grummz It’s not what you know, it’s who you know in many industries.
@Grummz Top level positions in all of tech. They understand the business but have no idea how the technology works or what has to be done to complete build.
@Grummz Look at Hollywood. They cannot distinguish between the Marvel's 300 million and the avengers
@Grummz Overspecialization leads to disastrous consequences when knowledge of the specialization is championed over knowledge of the industry. This applies in all fields including gaming and to all roles. CEOs, marketers, and even engineers.
@Grummz They aren't there to understand gaming. They are there to CHANGE gaming.
Kinda feels like it's a combination of college professors filling kids heads with theories that don't match up with reality. Along with, ideologues getting rid of people with opposing viewpoints. The former isn't actually as bad as you may think. From a historical viewpoint, people have always tended to become more moderate as they got older. This in part, is because over time they'd get exposed to people with other viewpoints. They'd learn to see things from other perspectives. And so on and so forth. That's not going to happen as much, in fields where differing viewpoints have largely been eliminated tho. So yeah. Long term, the later is far worse.
