"And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." In this verse, Joshua, a prominent figure in the Bible, is addressing the people of Israel. He is emphasizing the importance of making a choice about whom to serve and worship. Joshua declares his commitment to serving the Lord, and he encourages the people to make their own decision.
@GregsonDarren Amen to that it is a evil day
“Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.” Romans 14:4-8 ESV bible.com/bible/59/rom.1…
@GregsonDarren Yup. Jeremiah 10 is all about how we shouldn’t practice Pagan things. “For the customs of the people are vain:” Halloween is derived from Samhain, which is a Pagan/Wiccan holiday that marks the halfway point between the autumn equinox (Mabon) and winter solstice (Yule).
@GregsonDarren Not sure why some Christians are so defensive about it. I guess because they are deceived by thinking it’s “just fun” and everyone does it, without asking themselves why. We are called to stand apart from the world.
