Ask why they’re hiding the name of the captain who hit the bridge - and you’ll find all the answers.
@catturd2 Harbor Master was steering, not the Captain.. Captains or staff are not allowed to drive large ships through the channel, this is very typical.
@GramseyGreg @catturd2 Not true. Pilot is there for guidance not actual steering
Incorrect.. Harbor Masters pilot and drive the ships. Crews are not even allowed to drive and many disembark when incoming before the Harbor Masters take over. I was in the Navy, I think I know... Most harbors it's illegal for any crew to, including the Captain, be in control of the ship in the harbor.
@GramseyGreg @KamaltoeHairs @catturd2 Dear Admiral, Harbor Masters run the port. They don't pilot ships. Pilots, pilot ships. Everything I have read says that the two PILOTS onboard were running the operation of the ship. I was in the navy as well. It doesn't make us experts. Reading helps.
@GramseyGreg @KamaltoeHairs @catturd2 How come there were 2 pilots on board?
@GramseyGreg @KamaltoeHairs @catturd2 You don’t know
@GramseyGreg @KamaltoeHairs @catturd2 It's like air traffic controller sort of. No?
@GramseyGreg @KamaltoeHairs @catturd2 Why are tugs not used to guide ships in tight channels? Wouldn’t that prevent incidents like this? Thanks for any insight.
@GramseyGreg @KamaltoeHairs @catturd2 I heard that right off the bat when I first saw it…That the original captain wasn’t driving the ship ,it was someone that knows how to navigate through there ,locally… I know nothing about this industry
@GramseyGreg @KamaltoeHairs @catturd2 Thanks for your service and non biased answer!
