1 June 1942 | An Italian Jewish boy, Marco Segre, was born in Milan. On 25 May 1944 he was murdered in a gas chamber at #Auschwitz II-Birkenau.
These two journalists who covered Mahsa Amini’s murder are facing a sham trial merely for their accurate reporting. All the while, the perpetrators of Amini’s murder remain free. The trials of Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi, who broke the story of the assault on Amini, demonstrates the absurdity of the Islamic Republic's so-called justice system. The silence of Western governments only begets more violence by the Iranian regime against its own people. While a new generation is finding its voice, injustice stalks the young people of Iran. Diplomacy with a government that is at war with its own people will never be sustainable. There should be further diplomatic and economic isolation of Tehran. The U.S. and its allies should stop offering a lifeline to the Islamic Republic and give voice to brave reporters like Niloofar and Elaheh. #WomanLifeFreedom #MahsaAmini

1 June 1943, German Schutzpolizei and SS raided the village of Sochy southwest of Zamość, General Government. It hadn't delivered the required food quotas and was helping partisans. Both capital offences in German book. Over 180 people got murdered and the village set on fire.
