Back in "the good old days" (and I'm 57), I don't ever remember Saint George's Day being a thing in England. Was that true of everywhere in the country?🏴
@LeeJone50103071 It was always St Patrick's day, kind of a worldwide thing, nobody really bothered too much, now its like a whipped up event. I'm English, British, and happy with it but I don't need some Tory shouting it from the rooftops, because in essence these folk never gave a toss anyway
@LangersSnr St Patrick's day in England is for most people an American import. No different to Trick or Treat tbh.🤷🏻♂️
@LeeJone50103071 @LangersSnr Trick or Treat, under the name "guising", was originally Scottish....
@akicif @LeeJone50103071 @LangersSnr Irish or Gaelic (which would include west of Scotland I suppose). The irritating “trick or treat” term is a recent import from USA ; wasn’t used in Ireland when I was a kid though we did go from house to house seeking “apples and nuts” (to celebrate the harvest). #Samhain
