@A_DungeonDelver I was stationed with the US Army in Fulda, Germany during the mid-1980s. And as someone who was also interested in military history, I was more than a little aware of the the situation on the ground at the time. And I never thought of Poland as a reliable Warsaw Pact partner.
@Gingerblast My Roll20 campaign began in 2014 and is still going today. I recruited the players from among the random applicants and we've gone from complete strangers to best of friends. I can't imagine any greater level of winning than that.

@SandyofCthulhu Similar thing for me around 1982, I sent a letter to Avalon Hill with rules-clarification questions about the game War and Peace. My original letter was sent back, with hand-written answers to each of my questions. The letter came back with a big spilled-coffee stain on it.

@SandyofCthulhu We played the heck out of this game, via modem play, remotely. Then one day my room mate and I tried plugging in a POTS line directly, between the modem ports on our two computers, and it worked that way too. My memory is that you could also play hot-seat, but I may be mistaken.
