Russian conservatism is making a forceful return after a century of experimenting with socialism and liberalism. Conservatism is about managing change by ensuring that modernization evolves organically by building on the past. Conservatism has a natural attraction for Russia as its thousand-year-long history is largely characterized by revolutionary change - the destructive process of uprooting the past to give way to modernity. Navigating towards gradual and organic modernization has been a key struggle ever since the Mongols invaded in the early 13th century and decoupled Russia from Europe and the arteries of international trade. Russian history has consisted of avoiding revolutions that are either caused by falling behind on modernization or making great leaps forward that disrupt socio-economic and political traditions. Russian conservatives are now tasked with harmonizing the conservative ideas of the 19th century with the revolutionary changes that shaped Russia in the 20th century. The rise of Asia now provides new opportunities as it enables Russia to overcome its fixation on the West and develop a unique Russian path toward modernization that harmonizes its Eurasian geography and history. amazon.com/Russian-Conser…
@Glenn_Diesen As the two-headed imperial Russian eagle symbolizes, Russian politics have always looked both to East and to the West. Now being forced to East by the West.
@Glenn_Diesen Religious conservative values are making forceful return EVERYWHERE. But where is God the Holy Spirit⁉️ Acts 19:2 "He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost."
@Glenn_Diesen Congratulations and thank you for your outstanding work 🙏
@Glenn_Diesen It may seem odd, but Max Brooks predicted this in "World War Z." The Russian way of dealing with the horrors of a global zombie outbreak were to embrace the Church and return to traditional Russian values. It's odd to me how often that book predicted many things.
@Glenn_Diesen wow! sounds like a fantastic study you have penned!!
@Glenn_Diesen "Conservatism is about managing change by ensuring that modernization evolves organically by building on the past" A good, positive definition. Personally I define it as opposing radicalism (ie leftism), which amounts to the same thing.
@Glenn_Diesen I’d say that it’s the other way around: conservatism (which is unnatural) will result in a revolution (when the society has fallen to far behind). The revolution enables change and offers a chance for society to catch up with modernity. It happened in 🇷🇺 in 1917, 1991, 202x …
@Glenn_Diesen Per Russian State Statistics Service Rosstat, 22.6% of Russians do not have indoor plumbing. In rural Russia, almost 2/3rd's have no access to indoor toilets, 48.1% use outhouses and 18.4% do not have a sewage system.
