@Alan_Allport I had asked him when I was a kid what it was like and whether it was dangerous etc and the only thing he ever said was: “oh everyone was too busy to worry about us, lad.” The book and his notes gave an insight of what it must have been like and how it had stayed with him.

@Alan_Allport We found a copy of this in my grandfathers effects after he died. It must be 20 years ago but I vividly remember that he had gone through the dates and missions and written pencil annotations next to some, including the names of his friends who hadn’t come back after each one.

@davidallengreen I found it interesting that despite this occurring 12 days ago and his lawyers being informed of their error, Jones only found out about it in cross examination. It’s one thing to make a mistake, but another thing altogether to hide your errors from the client to his detriment.

@SeamusBlackley I can understand that his lawyer made a huge mistake, disclosing the phone by accident. What I don’t get is why, when alerted to the fact they had f’d up REALLY badly, they didn’t tell Jones about it. Seems his own lawyer knowingly walked him into a massive ambush.

@RoperCarl @27yearsCampaign The protests are well intentioned but cannot achieve anything but division. We cannot spend money. That applies to new owners/board. Protests do not change that but contribute to a sense that we are a sick club in a death spiral. Team spirit and siege mentality is what we need.

@Leo9EFC Tom Davies career has been ruined by the constant changes of manager in the crucial phase of his development as a player. A young midfielder needs consistency of approach; to know and be taught exactly what his role is. Didn’t have that with 7 managers since his debut.

@shitbarrister A commercial trainee solicitor can get £25- £30k in their first year (unqualified) in Manchester. They’ll be pushing £40-50k immediately as an NQ. In London, some firms pay NQs far above £100k. Even if you love your job, that disparity is just too high to be withstood.

@shitbarrister Worth pointing out that these are exceptional young people; only the smartest, hardest working and most talented get that far. They leave the profession because they have other options. They see their peers earning more for doing less and having a far better work life balance.

@JDGEFC And finally there’s an issue of scale. We’ve spent 500m in 6 years. It’s big, but city were prepared to drop half that on just two players in the last close season. Arguably they didn’t even need Grealish.

@JDGEFC I’d put (more or less) Gomes, Delph, Sigurdsson, Gbamin, Tosun in the same category. The fact that you need to replace them but can’t sell and reinvest is a huge drag. Others like Sandro, Klassen, Bernard were no good but at least they stayed healthy and we could trade them.
