Precisely. Science is auto-corrective. It is epistemologically adversarial. There is no settled science. Inerrant truths are within the domain of religion not science.
@GadSaad Yep. And yet we were labelled horrific things for simply challenging the mass formation psychosis and alerting others of the dangers. Hope we have learnt. But if history is anything to go by we don’t seem to learn very well.
@GadSaad Also, calling something science, doesn't make it science. Some of the things that get labeled "Science" these days can't be observed or replicated, so it shouldn't be considered science.... like Darwinism, it's totally a religion.
@GadSaad I remember when people would get banned for posting as much.
@GadSaad If you have to test Galileo feather and iron ball drop from a tower 2001 times to be convinced do it 2002 times more. And then still question it. But don’t be afraid to make an educated guess though. For the consistency of science is what keeps this reality intact.
Not a scientist, but as someone who dealt with creativity I'd argue that the scientific process fits within the generally agreed upon definition of a creative process in multiple other fields (business, design), that is to say, that the scientific method implies challenging conclusions constantly, with the surfacing of new data, within the limits of the possibilities of the discipline itself. It's a challenge-response mechanism, fundamentally.
@GadSaad "Trust MY Science" is what they really mean.
Even if the question is obviously wrong, we should encourage critical thought. Is the Earth flat? We know it isn't, but we can use that question as an opportunity to teach people fun facts about the planet and the solar system. We can demonstrate the Earth is round by putting a camera on a rocket and livestream the launch all the way until the rocket is in orbit. If you can demonstrate that something is true, it goes a long way to prove it.
True. Therefore, “Question religion” is the most anti-religion statement. Which means, Everything is settled by religion, which ironically probably has more questions than answers. But perhaps religion isn’t really about truth as it is a cover for what humans don’t know. Pride = gotta have an answer to feel smart. Posted statement really highlights the irony of science and religion. The name “Scientology” says it all.
