Community College is underrated. Most of my peers who are business owners don’t care where people go to school. And we’re not impressed by your alumni network. Skillset, mindset, communication skills, and worth ethic… These are the real qualifiers. A name brand education is all but meaningless going forward. See also, everyone who bought into the marketing propaganda of name brand education, who can’t get a career in their industry… But damn sure are counted in the “job placement rate” while working a job that didn’t require the degree they went into debt for. Predatory student loans are a sham, propped up by outdated rhetoric and more than outdated statistics. But see anyone who tells you this, even though you have all the evidence you need is a “conman”. We have over $1T in student loan debt nationwide, despite being told it’s such a great investment… So where are all these people that supposedly were going to have a bright future and earn so much more than their peers? How has that been working out? Community College and Trade Schools offer people skills and opportunities without starting their adult life in mortgage levels of debt without anything to show for it. If you have creative talent, or technical ability, affordable and free online education provides skills that can allow you to earn well above the median income level.
