Attn @FrshBakedDisney , @OffhandDisney , @provostparkpass . Straight from someone who was there. The Anaheim City Council approved after presentations starting at 5pm and 200 minutes of 92 speakers. This is the first of two votes. They vote again 07 May 2024, and then. . .
7 hours after the start of the public hearing, Disneyland Forward has been UNANIMOUSLY approved by the Anaheim City Council! Congrats to the Walt Disney Company and all the staff that worked on this project. There is an additional vote on May 7, and it will go into effect June 7!

Exactly Dave. Evaluating is the key word here. And 'in the next few years'....this is very much a 'maybe/could do it/ possibily'.
"... are evaluating technology that will enable us to convert from gas engines in the next few years." They don't have an actual plan in place yet. They're thinking about it. Evaluating. But it appears there are no firm plans yet.
A little strange that they’re thinking about this now, Disney could have easily reused the Electric Autopia Vehicles from Hong Kong Disneyland when it closed almost a decade ago If these plans go through, Disney will have to rebuild most, if not all, the vehicles from scratch
LA Times is reporting Disneyland plans to replace the gas vehicles at Autopia. I would though encourage everyone to curb their collective enthusiasm a bit as it appears to be more blue sky than actual plans. Per the article:
