To understand what's happening in North Carolina's slow political realignment, you have to understand its political geography. North Carolina is approaching a political tipping point. It's not a matter of whether it will happen, but of when. carolinaforward.org/blog/political… #ncpol
@ForwardCarolina Cumberland county will likely turn blue. It's one of those counties that have been purple for a while.
@ForwardCarolina Sadly, I was thinking some of Charlotte's suburbs were turning blue but not by this map if I read it correctly? I do think Johnston has to turn blue at some point simply by the Wake spillover (which I had thought was already occuring in CLT).
@ForwardCarolina I would imagine that spillover is affecting Cabarrus? We were very proud when Diamond Staton-Williams got elected to state legislature in Cabarrus last election.
@ForwardCarolina I don't think our maps have changed much since the mid 2000's. Our more urban counties will remain blue. The northeastern region of the state near NC remains blue unless gerrymandering carves it up again. New retirees to this area tend to head to the western region which is red

@ForwardCarolina Have we taken into account all the people who have moved here post pandemic? Transplants tend to be 🔵
