Current state of affairs as of 4:45 p.m. - the energy responsible for the heavy storms in South Jersey is continuing to shift into Delmarva. Rain and thunder will remain possible in the southernmost part of the state through early evening, but will taper over the next two hours.
Where’s it been cloudy and rain, temperatures have dropped into the 70s. But it’s humid.
In NE NJ, a refreshing airmass is building in with dew points dropping into the lower 60s and sunny skies taking hold, causing temperatures to respond with 80s. This clearing and lowering of dew points will continue to work its way southwest. #NJ#NJWX #Weather#WX

As of 2:35 p.m., a thunderstorm was dropping out of SE PA into SW NJ. An area of earlier thunderstorms in SE NJ has evolved into backbuilding heavy showers with an occasional lightning strike, with an outflow boundary moving west-northwest. That outflow boundary could result in further development, especially as it nears what is dropping south and clashes. #NJ#NJWX #WX#Weather
Portions of Southeastern NJ are contending with thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. Flash flooding is possible as these storms move slowly. #NJ#NJWX #WX#Weather
Showers and thunderstorms are developing in the north and will drop down to the south-southeast, while new storms could also develop by midday and early afternoon in the south.
Downstream environment is sufficiently unstable for a few severe storms and favorable for flash flooding with 1,500 J/kg CAPE, 1.8” PWATs, 70 degree plus dew points and some wind shear.
Risk of inclement weather is higher south of I-195, highest around and south of the AC Expressway. #NJ#NJ#NJWX #WX
Heavy t-storms are especially likely today south of I-195. Storms could fire as early as mid-morning, with the peak between 12 and 6 p.m. Flash flooding is very possible with these storms, and some severe weather is possible, too. Vineland, Atlantic City and Cape May have the highest chances of impactful weather. #NJ#NJWX #WX#Weather
After a few widely scattered t-storms earlier, it has become quiet with most storm activity well to our south and west. However, as a cold front approaches and encounters a very humid airmass, an isolated pop-up t-storm cannot be ruled out. Computer model guidance really doesn't have all that much until mid to late morning tomorrow, when the front may become more activated with thunderstorms south of I-195 and pose a greater flash flood risk. #NJ#NJWX #WX#Weather
