9 years ago I went backpacking throughout various cities in Iran🇮🇷, talking to a wide variety of people. Here are 3 widespread observations: 1. A true love of American people and our culture🇺🇸, but a mistrust in our government (and theirs). 2. No hatred towards jews. Ironically, even talked a jewish family that claimed to like living in Hamadan Iran (anecdotal). 3. They have a saying: “Governments want war, not people ☮️”
@FinPhilosopher Never been there, but I found this @RickSteves episode on Iran to largely confirm your sentiments youtube.com/watch?v=CYoa9h…
@FinPhilosopher Seems like the main difference is that in the US, people feel in some way responsible for the actions of their government. Not so in Iran
@FinPhilosopher Did you talk to any women frankly about their restrictions? That’s my major concern with Islamist countries. I know many Afghan families who came here after the withdrawal + to a person they say they’re thankful to get the girls tf out of places like Iran.
@FinPhilosopher Politicians and their friends cannot get rich faster if there are no wars!
