Raidne had left town and went to NYC, as he always did for Thanksgiving. It was midnight in Harlem. Enjoy yourself.

So tonight would be an evening between me, myself and I. I'd eat muffins and maybe I'd rise up early enough for the sunrise. To see Raidne.

He had put too much energy for too long. He understood her confusion and her anger but couldn't do anything then. It was too dangerous.

Jordan was now assessing the situation in the light of that new perspective. The innuendos, the songs, her name added to a song.

Discretion was essential. Love would find a way. The Count was an ally. He had texted Raidne that night before he arrived. They had to talk.

Vanessa was monitoring social networks. Jordan understood she couldn't post her whereabouts. She was laying low. Raidne knew where she was.

Somehow her heart felt differently, like it knew. Her mind had been mad at him but her heart had never given up on him.

Jordan realized she had been mad at Raidne for the wrong reasons. He was not toying with her. He never had.

Jordan knew Vanessa had ways of monitoring what Raidne was doing and who he was with. Jordan knew there were places that were off charts.

He had made the difficult decision to stay away from Jordan to protect her. He knew what Vanessa was capable of, and didn't want to risk it.

Suddenly, everything made sense. She was responsible for the death of Bella Odin, and Raidne didn't want that to happen again.

Trust with all your heart and do not rely on your own (limited) understanding of things, right Raidne?

She admired his gorgeous thighs in his tight black pants. She had always loved his thighs.

He was right. All this silence between them made it hard to relate. She just had to see his face. All the love in her heart for him awoke.

He thought she'd never change. He was wrong. She hadn't stopped reinventing herself since she had met him.

He was acting shy. She was glad to spend time with him. His friends gave them privacy. He stared at her breasts. She smiled. All for you.

She had looked for him in bars and cafes and met him in the street. He came to her. She jumped in his arms, relieved.

Why was that encounter with him in Burlington coming to mind now, almost two years ago? She had driven eight hours to be with him that day.

Is that what he wanted also now? She felt so confused. She didn't want to get hurt again so she was waiting for him to act.

She waited a bit and walked by the other cafe where he'd be sitting outside. Just like in Vermont, she was dying to jump in his arms.
