The U.K. government has announced it will proscribe Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). FoFI, which has long campaigned for this designation at the EU, welcomes the UK’s decision. Remnants of the Shah’s Regime Are Accomplices and Instruments of the Religious Dictatorship   Administrative Court: June 20 Demonstration Faces the Risk of a Major Attack by the Iranian Regime or Monarchists; SAVAK Threatened to Bomb the Rally   • In view of the bombing threats made by the Iranian regime and monarchists against demonstrators, the Court held that the rally could not proceed. The plaintiffs' lawyers have appealed the ruling.   The Paris Administrative Court ruled today that the police ban on the June 20 demonstration was based on generic grounds devoid of any contextual information. However, intelligence reports submitted to the Court show that the June 20 rally "is exposed to the risk of a major attack by the Iranian regime or Iranian monarchists."   The judgment further states that remnants of the Shah's regime "maintain an internal security service known as SAVAK. This 'service' is active in Europe and has threatened that, should the administrative authorities authorize the demonstration on June 20, 2026, it would plant a bomb."   This once again proves that the monarchists are nothing more than accomplices and willing instruments of the ruling religious fascism in Iran against the Iranian people and their Resistance. The events of recent months have likewise demonstrated that fascistic monarchist gangs will stop at nothing in committing crimes against opponents of both the Shah and the Sheikh.   Referring to these groups, the Court notes that the presence of SAVAK "was evident during the demonstrations held in London on April 26, 2026, and in Regensburg, Germany, on May 10, 2026, where participants displayed clothing and banners bearing SAVAK symbols."   The judgment further states that "the monarchist movement, through one of its active members, Mohammad Sadeghi Ahangar—known for his threatening statements, particularly toward the French security forces and the President of the Republic—called on his supporters to 'block the march.'"   In light of the bombing threats made by the Iranian regime and monarchists against the demonstrators, the Court ruled that the demonstration could not proceed. The French Government has forbidden in the last minute the rally in Paris of tens of thousands of Iranians in protest for the executions of political prisoners. The Western democracies are accomplices of the criminal regime of the ayatollahs. Their cowardice is repulsive.

Yesterday’s #FreeIran rally in Paris highlighted both the hope and the challenges facing Iran’s opposition movement. The planned outdoor demonstration and speaker program at Place Vauban was cancelled following security concerns and a bomb threat. Contrary to early speculation, sources on the ground pointed not to the IRGC, but to supporters aligned with Reza Pahlavi and the monarchist movement. A judge sited a threat to public safety and said bomb threats from those loyal to the Shah and the IRGC were the justification for banning the rally. @BorisJohnson called the French government out and ostensibly called them cowards. What became impossible to ignore was the deep divide within the Iranian diaspora. On one side stands the NCRI and its democratic opposition movement. On the other, supporters of restoring the monarchy under Reza Pahlavi. For many NCRI supporters, this divide is deeply personal. Thousands endured imprisonment, torture, and persecution under the Shah’s SAVAK security apparatus long before the current regime came to power. The monarchy’s legacy remains unresolved for many Iranians. As the Islamic Republic faces mounting pressure, a larger question emerges: What comes next? Will a post-regime Iran embrace a parliamentary democracy, a republic, a constitutional monarchy, or something entirely new? Is the opposition prepared to unite around democratic institutions before power changes hands?
