I love my dad. He's not an unintelligent guy. But he and my mother consistently watch MSNBC. Trying to talk politics with him is impossible. It's like he lives in an entirely different world, where: - Ukraine has taken back most of the land annexed by Russia; - We had to stop Putin in Ukraine, or Poland would be next, and the world would be taken over by "Communists" from Russia and China. - We have to back Israel, or a similar fate will befall the planet. All the while, he couldn't stop talking about abortion somehow. In a country and world, which is at the precipice of existential disaster on numerous fronts, somehow my almost 80-year-old father is made to care about abortion seemingly as much or more than any other singular issue of our time. Thank God cable news is going the way of the dinosaur. P.S. When I talk to old people who watch FOX, it's not much better, if at all.
@FLOMBARDIMUSIC This sounds like white supremacy to me
@FLOMBARDIMUSIC Fox news at least pretends to be skeptical of our government and globalists. Sadly they're fine with turning the world into an old Company Town akin to the coal baron days. At least when the climate implodes it'll wipe things clean for a second attempt.
@FLOMBARDIMUSIC IDK I would rather my older parents listen to MSDNC and be against abortion, than to listen to fox news and be racist, transphobic, coal burning, fracking, immigrant hating force birthers 😳
@FLOMBARDIMUSIC Yeah over the years I’ve managed to move my dad left a bit but he and my mom still watch the news and he’s still convinced Trump bad Dems good and it’s frustrating.
@FLOMBARDIMUSIC Remind your dad that, in the lead-up to the 2003 Iraq war, MSNBC fired Donohue, Ventura and Bamford for citing the lack of evidence of WMDs. They were right, but MSNBC never apologized or re-hired them. MSNBC's parent company (GE) owned weapons-makers who profited from the war.
