Self-Care Tip #6: It’s ok to not be ok.

Self-Care Tip #4: Just like when running in a race, you sometimes need to slow down now, so you will be able to speed up later.

Self-Care Tip #3: Taking time to care for yourself is not just for you but also for those you care about.

Self-Care Tip #2: By focusing on our strengths (the things we have), we are better able to address the areas that need some improvement. But if we only focus on the things we do not have, we will have trouble making progress.

In Social Work, it is vital that we practice self-care. It’s not selfishness to take care of yourself. Remember, you are your first client and are worthy of the same respect you show to others. Self-Care Tip #1: Perception goes a long way in improving your quality of life.

When working with clients, interpersonal skills are crucial in order to build rapport as well as to display professionalism. Without engagement, the rest of the change process cannot take place. Happy Social Work month!

Social Workers by definition are change agents: skilled workers who seek to improve the lives of those with whom they interact on a daily basis. Happy Social Work month!

It’s about the outcome not the income. Happy Social Work Month!

It can feel overwhelming to try and change the whole world. Instead, attempt to positively change the world of each person around you.

February is Canned Food Month and SWSA has partnered with Henderson Community Soup Kitchen to put together a canned food drive, specifically vegetables and soups! All size cans are accepted and all food donations will go towards Henderson Community Soup Kitchen!

An excellent example of using a strength-based perspective.

A sad reminder that working with hurt people carries the risk of being hurt yourself. Our thoughts and prayers to the family of this fallen superhero.

The Social Work Students in Action professional club [or SWSA as we call it] is gearing up for another semester. Congratulations  to the new SWSA officers!
