Clementina’s 15-year-old son Louis was actively involved in promoting peace in his community. He was an honors student and an avid reader with hopes to pursue a Ph.D. and become the first Black president. In 1993, he was shot and killed by stray gunfire on his way to a Teens Against Gang Violence meeting. Clementina founded the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute in Dorchester, MA to honor his legacy and continue his work as a peacemaker. The organization aims to create and sustain an environment where families can live in peace and people are valued, by providing those impacted by violence with the resources for healing. “We believe that all families impacted by murder deserve to be treated with dignity and compassion, regardless of the circumstances.” We are honored to work closely with Clementina and the @LDBpeaceInst, one of our 2023 Community Safety Fund Grantees. This #WomensHistoryMonth, join us in elevating Clementina’s voice. Learn more about the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute at the link in our bio.
@Everytown Have you bothered to address gang violence? Or is that too hard to do?
@Everytown There are hoodlums in our neighborhood. None of us are going to tell you who they are. It's too dangerous. Now, go arrest them. Yep, right.
