Shyness is really misunderstood. We are not scared everyday lol, we just don’t like being the centre of attention and it takes awhile to get comfortable with people.

@EllaDecember And there is selective shyness. Not everything/everyone makes me shy.
@EllaDecember Londoners are mean too & lack empathy, so the shyness isn’t even always shyness, sometimes it’s just self protection 😂
@EllaDecember Shy people are often very observant and sensitive to energy. We gotta feel out the environment before we can get comfortable. Gotta read the energy a bit to decide what level of interaction we’re comfortable having with you.
@EllaDecember That original poster is confusing why with anxiety. Ppl with social anxiety about every interaction or perceived interaction etc. Ppl who are shy are more observant. We like to watch how ppl move before we decide if and when we engage with ppl
@EllaDecember I’m shy af. I like to be the center of attention, but only when I’m comfortable around people. I have to feel comfortable in your energy, and not everybody gets that side of me. If has nothing to do with being scared
@EllaDecember And it is possible to be alienated enough to be afraid of really everybody. To answer their question not well, existence kind of turns into a charade.
@EllaDecember More often than not, the people who complain about someone being shy are the same people who suck up all the energy in the room and make the shy person (and probably others as well) uncomfortable.
