The fact that open weights models are being discussed credibly at this level of capability should be a huge update for many. The implications of open models getting to frontier performance ensures that you can always have sovereign AI, have the ability to post train for your specific workflows, cost optimize for various workloads, and actually afford to do much more with AI (which opens up meaningfully different applications). Huge win for the applied AI layer.

In my testing, GLM-5.2 is the closest open model I've seen so far to the proprietary frontier models. Results below.
Wow. @Zai_org GLM 5.2 is a marvel! It is *at least* as good as Opus 4.8 and GPT 5.5. It's super fast, inexpensive, and not too verbose. It responds with nuance and judgement, & handles long context VERY well. I've never experienced an open weights model like this before.

GLM-5.2 delivers a substantial leap in app development capabilities, which also represent demanding long-horizon tasks. Results: - GLM-5.1: 21/70 - GLM-5.2: 48/70 - Claude Fable 5: 56/70 That's more than a twofold improvement from GLM-5.1 to GLM-5.2. These come from an

Don’t believe me? Ask a model to create a counter factual timeline and watch it curve to assume major historic changes in thinking (enlightenment, etc.) MUST occur.
No one likes this answer, but the biggest moat in the AGI future is to be a creator with taste and/or a world builder. Fictional worlds are fundamentally still one of the hardest things for models and all the economics are about forcing it to re create reality.
