BREAKING: Gun but no signs? According to a new set of Tennessee House rules, signs are no longer permitted into House galleries and committee meetings. Today troopers escorted multiple women out of a subcommittee special session hearing on public safety and gun violence. This comes after the recent Covenant School shooting took place in Nashville. They were escorted out because they were holding small signs — approximately 8x10 inches in size — that read, “1 Kid > All The Guns.” News Channel 5 reporter @NC5PhilWilliams got it all on video (seen below). Now, according to House member Justin Jones, you can’t bring a sign to the committee rooms, but you are allowed to bring a gun. Do you agree with these rules? Isn’t this a violation of the 1st Amendment? It seems absurd that you can’t bring a small sign to protest gun violence, but you can literally bring a gun to the committee floor.
@EdKrassen @NC5PhilWilliams NO SIGNS!? In Tennessee of all places. I do believe that is a violation of freedom of speech. Violation of freedom to peaceful protest. They weren't even talking. I think they did not like what the signs said as opposed to having a sign at all.
@EdKrassen @NC5PhilWilliams Seems like 1A infringement to me, cringe.
@EdKrassen @NC5PhilWilliams This seems very odd to me, tbh.
@EdKrassen @NC5PhilWilliams Release the manifesto.
