@jpembroke Spend a little time in a small school. It is incredibly liberating to be able to articulate just how nonsensical it is to compare a cohort of 3 girls all autumn born in one year to a cohort of 7 summer born boys the next - and yet a lot of outside influences still try!

@EdCPDChat The best schools I have worked with have coaching & reflection at the heart of what they do in CPD. One partnership has been having training one week and then 1to1, individual and team reflection the following week. No reflection time = big barrier #EdCPDChat
@EdCPDChat If the two aren't clearly aligned. People may 'develop' in ways that don't contribute to school improvement (which may not necessarily be a bad thing in of itself), and school may mandate PD that people don't feel they want/need. #EdCPDChat

@EdCPDChat SLT have a matrix of personalised CPD opportunities that staff have taken part in which are beyond our whole school CPD so they collate and plan in opportunities which are often, but also beyond, discussed in appraisal meetings #EdCPDChat
@EdCPDChat Through discussion during appraisals or when other opportunities may arise. We have a a training centre so often opportunities can be linked through there and we are utilising opportunities with research schools where possible too, as well as schools within our trust #EdCPDChat
@EdCPDChat Honestly, not sure! Obviously if it was written down then it removes ambiguity and gives clarity to everyone involved. We know why we're doing this, it's on the plan. But I've also seen it used in awful ways in terms of accountability / performance management. #EdCPDChat
@EdCPDChat We’ve done done training looking at the 4 key EEF aspects for implementation&we are explicitly looking how our action plans plan these 4 elements. As SL, we will clearly then have the CPD planned in as part of it. The SDP doesn’t have that level of detail though #EdCPDChat

@EdCPDChat This might sound strange to some but I'm not sure we actually have a proper sch dev plan! I mean, I think the Head has their 'vision' and PD is certainly a key feature but we've never been given anything formally written down #EdCPDChat
@EdCPDChat Knoster's model of complex change has skills as one of the 5 key elements. So if you are planning development then giving focus to skill development is as key as the plan itself. #EdCPDChat
