Western allies have just stood directly in the way of an Iranian state attack on Israel. The range of possible interventions to frustrate Russia's attacks on Ukraine is far from exhausted. But by refusing, so far, to even consider any lawful and defensive kinetic action over Ukraine's skies, we are repeatedly broadcasting dangerously high levels of fear directly to the Kremlin, while also leaving Ukraine in an increasingly losing battle which will come to haunt us all. We should at minimum be rotating manned air defence batteries through Ukraine. Yes, we would need them in case of a wider war. But the onus for starting that wider war will always be on Moscow. And if we believe in our deterrence, Moscow won't dare. And if that's a wrong assumption, then that wider war is inevitable. But with Ukraine still standing, European collective security is better served by taking the risk now rather than after Ukraine is damaged beyond hope. This is a matter of resolve and of reasonable and lawful risk taking. It is also our strategic interest. Russia must fail, Ukraine must win.

@EHunterChristie @madzmadz Not just the Western countries. Jordania as well. Not all Arabic/Muslim countries want a Syria/Iran-controlled Islamic state in the area and that's what the Hamas is for.
@EHunterChristie Yes, but you miss the fundamental reality that Russia has a lot of nukes which makes even the very small chance of escalation far more calamitous overall than what Iran can do (at least at present). That is a huge distinction.
@EHunterChristie There were implications before tonight which may not exist anymore after Iranian massive attack. Reaction doesn’t need to be “spectacular” but a radical approach change may be underway! Let’s see
@EHunterChristie It’s like firefighters not putting out a small fire because a bigger fire might start somewhere else. The response to the russian attack on Ukraine should have been immediate and overwhelming. The ship has sailed on immediate but we could still do overwhelming.
@EHunterChristie We should have troops on the ground in Ukraine. Stop the ambiguity.
@EHunterChristie The US are playing dirty in this … Before Europe wake up and realize that, the better it is.. @guyverhofstadt #europeancouncil #europeanparliament
@EHunterChristie And just like that, no one is talking about starting WWIII. POOF!
@EHunterChristie This action directly contradicts their excuse that intercepting Russian missiles would be a declaration of war against Russia. Are we now at war with Iran? 🤔
