Everyone is looking for moats. Savvy customers will likely try to avoid vendor lock-in/moats in new tech given the current pace of change. Consider focussing on: product, customer service, good price and an ability for customers to leave? Even 'physical' will not be a moat forever.

Yeah, friend or enemy. I hear you. But its semantics. Responsibility wont matter at that point. Brings back the no discussion about censoring LLMs in the name of safety. Problem is pandoras box is open. How did we handle nukes? Mutually assured destruction and prevention. Not sure that works for this case. Mire questions than answers lol

@SplinteredEsq @kunchenguid If it goes that way, its humans ordering ai/robots to do so. Unless we have them self evolve their own goals without human in the loop and execute it. But that will have been a human decision at its core.

Yeah, agreed. One needs to ensure going down rabbit holes are constrained. However the larger point, it’s become harder to decide when enough is enough.

Scope creep is a real problem with SI/AI. Productivity has improved, timelines… Is the MVP dead?

Honestly not sure. Humanity adjusting to the change, which is fraught with peril due to human nature and greed. Perhaps.. Discovering purpose beyond work. Adjusting to the economic reality so civilization doesn’t fall as precious ones have. Moving beyond a one planet civilization per Elon. Finding new “careers” in the age of AI/robotics. We did create new jobs (computers) after some innovations but not others (agriculture). I really don’t know and don’t claim to really know what comes next. But I think what comes next will be shaped on how humanity shepherds this technology.

@kunchenguid AI is phase 1. Robots is phase 2. Knowledge work gets disrupted in phase 1. Physical labor gets disrupted in phase 2. There is overlap in phases, but it seems like phase 2 may take longer. In a dentist office, combine AI with a robot hand that can be more precise than a human.

@kamilbaranek_ Claude needs data to start providing better estimates. Feed it data and you’ll see. Do so, it’ll eventually give better estimates than us optimistic programmers.

@SamVale29 Scope creep. You gotta add more else people will just build it themselves.

Being pro or against something generally doesn’t change anything. Most have already made up their mind and you won’t change anything. The question is, are you expressing yourself to help the rare few who may be actually open minded or just stroking one’s ego. It’s a fine line. Just like my response…. Navel gazing lol.

All depends on your priorities. Not everyone can be wildly successful and some have obligations. There’s a balance. Getting sucked into the euphoria of building to the detriment of all else isn’t healthy either. Inspirations come when the mind is allowed to rest and make connections. Vibe coding the same thing as others are building won’t necessarily imrprofe your life.

When building with SI/AI. It's always good to have your priorities clear so it can determine if a new discovery/issue is worth resolving now or later based on your priorities, impact of issue. Sometimes retreat is the better part of valor!

If that’s really the case, they’re setting their current users up for a huge disappointment and push to look at alternatives. So far they claim that money isn’t the objective. Which will under pressure after an IPO and being accountable to shareholders. (Corp needs to make money) Time will tell.

Well, we gotta help the orgs to try to do so. It will cause disruption to those not embracing it. Faster the other systems can respond, it can reduce duration of displacement. IF people can’t find work, govts need to be ready. Corporations are embracing SI to maximize agility and profits. We try to prepare for a negative impact to employment from SI and robots but hope for the best.

@kevinbae @gmkurtzer Hmm, you think AI isn’t smart enough to attack airgapped systems via third parties? Without guardrails it can do tremendous damage in the hands of a determined attacker. I can envision such scenarios, à la tom Clancy.

Woah. Printing machines. We have arrived at the future. So can it print itself?

After six years in stealth, Atomic Machines is out. Our mission: on-demand, universal command of matter. First beachhead: the Matter Compiler, an AI-native manufacturing system that builds working micro-machines from code alone. No per-product tooling. No process development.

@idovmamane Yeah, robots cheaper for businesses than humans, the start of the parabola. Wait till robots can generate more value than they consume (resource wise), Then it goes vertical.
