We ask 18yo kids to sign up for a massive financial commitment with student loans. They end up trapped in debt with absurd interest rates. And. We. Do. Nothing. Keep the poor/middle class "right where they belong" and limiting upward mobility. It's oppression plain and simple.
@DylanOgline I didn't ask anyone to sign up for anything. The real crime is that so many kids graduate High School without the arithmetic and logic skills to realize what a bad idea that is.
@DylanOgline But if those kids are smart enough to decide their gender at 9, they should be geniuses at 18 and responsible for their own debts.
@DylanOgline Time for POTUS to keep his promise of eliminating student debt before we lose a huge section of young citizens to poverty!
@DylanOgline Got another plan for lower/middle class people to go to college? There's scholarships but not everyone can get them. They can work their way through but that takes a long, long time. But w/ a student loan you have to go to work & pay it back! You understand that when you sign.
@DylanOgline Then stop telling 18yo kids that they have to have a degree to be successful. Telling them that is a lie.
@DylanOgline I got my "education" in the Mekong Delta, manning automatic weapons, in '68 & '69. I helped pay off my kid's college loans. Now, you think I should pay off these kids loans? GFY.
@DylanOgline Dylan - get off your butt and work while going to school. It takes longer YES - big deal. The world owes you nothing!
@DylanOgline We? The parents maybe. We paid for our education. No one forced us to go, or take out loans. We volunteered. Opportunity is not oppression.
