I think besides a massive last minute shift in where things seem to be going, the best case scenario for Arizona hockey in the NHL identifying a new ownership group, that group building an arena with the ironclad promise of a franchise in 5-6 or so years. If everything out in the media is true, Meruelo cannot be trusted anymore to run an NHL franchise in Arizona. Again, without hearing from him we don't know - but Bill Armstrong delivering a message to the team tonight could solidify everything. Friedman on 32 Thoughts today said that he expects there would be some sort of language in the sale that would make the Coyotes franchise "inactive", and the new Utah team would essentially be buying the contracts of all the players and staff they want from the Coyotes. The Coyotes franchise would be rebooted when the league decides to come back, complete with history and records etc. This might be the silver lining, paired with a new owner, that would do the Coyotes well, all things considered. #Yotes
