we have to do a better job holding people accountable, we also need to stop this notion of our athletes running from competition jumping from team to team just to get what they want. it’s turning into a lot of kids and families feeling entitled.
the local celebrity-ism is killing our beautiful game in el paso, there are grown men creating “varsity” teams, playing with & against kids that have never and probably won’t ever produce on their school’s varsity team. then boldly on facebook badmouthing other teams.
i watched a video recently of a player yelling “change my ranking” during a “city league” game, in which they had a very average game against very below average athletes and continued to tell the cameraman that they need their ranking changed.
i have heard too many parents bad mouth legitimate AAU programs because their child that has very little talent, and to add to it, can’t be coached because they’re at home telling them how “good” they are, isn’t getting the playing time they think they deserve.
