I am OK with the Patrick Paul selection, but my expectation going in was we are building for 2025 and this season so this is on brand with that. I expect Miami to be busy Post-June 1st signing vets on 1 year deals as band-aids for 2024. This is a long-term play for the Fins

Can’t help but feel like the Dolphins are leaning into the “transition year” thing. Still a lot of offseason left, but it feels like it, especially considering how the draft has gone so far.
I just have no idea what Miami are doing here. There’s a window and they’re taking a guy who won’t play in 2024. And whose technique needs a complete rebuild. Horror show.
Was not a Patrick Paul guy. Just didn’t love his tape. He’s a developmental player who has already played a ton of games.

This entire offseason has been signaling a reset for 2025 and beyond. They shed salary and are banking on a flood of picks in 2025. A first round exit isn’t a sign of being in “win-now” mode. They need to navigate this cap crunch and set themselves up for the future.

I think my disconnect with the Paul pick is that I don’t view him as this “high upside, developmental” player. For someone who’s played a lot of football, his technique is a mess. I’m gonna rewatch him tomorrow and see if my opinion changes, though.
@DanteCollinelli It's not the talent that's the question. It is that they need development and by the time they are ready, the window on this version of the team will be closing. The Dolphins are no better now than before the draft. Let's see what happens June 1st.
