@rickynow Yeah enforcement’s harder, but (eg) speed limits aren’t *actively* enforced everywhere but people largely stick to them. Also, alcohol age sale violations fine the buyer, establishment *and* the server which seems pretty effective as an incentive. A step in the right direction

NW taxation supports poorer people to reach self support thresholds, shifting the tax burden to those with way more.

@silvercue @sysboy @RobinDavidMorri @JolyonMaugham Logic on par with saying 40% tax rate discourages earning over 50k. Good call out re:pension assets though resolved by a “Pension ISA”. Both systems require investing in your future and taxing NW would encourage spending, absolutely, but more initial capital to invest.

Also, if you calculate based on working life rather than lifespan that figure begins to approach reasonable
