So many doctors seem to like to try one or two things and then give up. Sometimes I feel like doctors actually just signed up to do yearly checkups on healthy people and nothing more. The more challenging patients seem to just be an annoyance instead of a mystery to be solved.
@DiaryofaSickGrl Our current Healthcare system rewards doctors for volume, not outcomes. We don't fit in with the payment model. 15 min appts are useless for us. :(
@DiaryofaSickGrl Exactly! It's like they don't want to spend the time trying to educate themselves about your diseases or they don't have the time. I've seen a bunch of neurologists about my migraines and after tryjng 2 or 3 things, they all give up. Same with my other issues. 💔😔
@DiaryofaSickGrl Complex patients require more time which cuts into their caseload requirements.
@DiaryofaSickGrl I blame the ins. system; most practices overlap appts so they see more patients/day to ⬆️💰which in turn gives the Dr maybe 15mins w/you; they might order labs/✍️Rx/refer out to specialists, but they have to keep the 🔄 going; no time to actually diagnose 🙃
@DiaryofaSickGrl I was just thinking about this today. Like how my sleep study showed I was negative for narcolepsy and hypersomnia so she refused to prescribe a stimulant. Zero interest in the fact that I only got about 17 min of deep sleep the entire night. No intellectual curiosity whatsoever.
@DiaryofaSickGrl The majority of Drs selected medicine as a career because they want to help people. Seeing a patient they haven’t been able to diagnose makes them feel like a failure because they can’t help the patient. Therefore, they’d rather never see that patient again
@DiaryofaSickGrl I have gone through so many migraine specialists over the past 30 years because they try a max of 5 meds then give up when I'm never fully pain free. Yet I'm the one accused of doctor shopping. 🙄
@DiaryofaSickGrl Exactly this. With me they run super basic bloodwork, it's "fine," and they blame meds or a possible sleep disorder. They ignore all the red flags of dysautonomia. I just read up and do the best I can on my own.
@DiaryofaSickGrl Most doctors do it for the money. They aren’t actual caring human beings.
