You may not think that to be online takes energy because all you do is scroll and engage in what you want to , log in, log off. Deactivate at will.. But when like us you have an online presence that people adore , crave, even would state that they need, it is a very different scenario. I understand that a lot of you don’t understand this. You’ve never experienced such demand in such a way. Our experience of this place is not the same. When we’re online here, we’re posting, promo-ing, and engaging. We have to, to be able to upkeep our social visibility here. You may think that just because we’re posting then we’re fine and open, active for k!nk based fun, but it isn’t always the case. We may want to go on spaces to speak to mutuals and it may not be anything to do with k!nk. We don’t want you to then be pushing and whining for us to be active, or to post certain things. We want to be able to enjoy ourselves and also feel like we have the freedom to be able to just exist here. Which we do. You don’t control us , you don’t control what we post or what we act. You never will and the minute you exhibit such entitlement will be the minute you lose access. Saying that, there are other factors that impact, it can be easy as a Domme to feel the internal pressure of remaining active, not missing out on things, especially when neurodiverse and enjoying the benefits so much. During spaces, we can receive many DMs from people who realise we’re active at that time as they see us in there, and are interested in some fun, but we may not be in the mood for it. It feels like you -can’t hide- here sometimes. Very exposed, so many beady eyes always waiting to see if you’re around. Sometimes to contribute absolutely nothing to your life as well. Which is frustrating in itself. Posting shows you’re active and suddenly here comes the inundation of DMs. A single send suggesting that you might have some time for a drain etc, which you might, but might not. Not posting shows the algorithm that due to less interaction with your page , you should be stifled as you’re “uninteresting” or “inactive” - so we can’t win. That sure feels like damned if we do, damned if we don’t. Now as someone who predominantly uses this platform because I’ve always found it user friendly… It’s not so user friendly anymore in a lot of regards. We’re all having to adjust to the new chat feature and the fact that a lot of us are being stifled. So we have to post , actively engage, and do so even when we may not feel like it. Just because we’re posting doesn’t necessarily mean we’re “available” right there and then. This needs to be made crystal clear. Yes you may see us commenting on our mutuals posts etc, but that is a part of networking to make our mutuals feel appreciated, keep up with things, not necessarily because we have to, but because we want to reciprocate and support each other. That doesn’t mean it’s fake, far from it, but it becomes a duty, a responsibility, an unspoken rule of sorts. All that being said - it’s very easy for us to burn out, be unable to respond to messages or just disappear for a bit due to overwhelm. Sometimes we won’t even announce it. Whilst we disappear, we want to believe that we will still be considered and appreciated. That our need for space will be respected, and that we won’t be met with obstinate expectations/general disregard upon our return. Subs ask yourself- Are you contributing to the burnout in some of your actions? Dommes ask yourself- Are you trying to push through this burnout too quickly for fear of missing out? If so, how would you be able to enjoy any of it when feeling so overwhelmed? You need some time away, it’s not healthy to be on any social media platform too long. When was the last time you took a break, put your phone down for something other than a responsibility, but for leisure/reset? Normalise discussing these very real struggles. Subs should always be aware of them too.
