OK, maybe it's not shocking, but they didn't lose oncogenes; oncogenes are important for cell proliferation, and animals with development need them to go from a single cell into a full-sized adult. Elephants are big, so they probably need their oncogenes to get that big 2/n
@DevoEvoMed Very interesting! I wonder if these have any ties to aging tho, as none of these animals live longer than humans. Are any of the stated gene have any implication in aging?
