The same commands that have powered Unix and Linux systems for over 50 years are now available natively on Windows, maintained by Microsoft itself. For context: GNU coreutils are the foundational utilities that every Linux and macOS system relies on for basic file operations, text processing, and shell scripting. They are the bedrock of Unix computing. Tens of millions of scripts, pipelines, and workflows run on them every day. And now Microsoft is shipping and maintaining a build of them for Windows. This is not WSL. You do not need a Linux subsystem running in the background. These tools run natively on Windows, with the exact same flags and behavior as on Linux. Your existing scripts just work. Microsoft's goal: make moving between Linux, macOS, WSL, containers, and Windows completely frictionless. Write a script once. Run it anywhere. The package bundles uutils/coreutils (a modern Rust rewrite of GNU coreutils), findutils, and grep into a single multi-call binary. Every command supports standard flags. Same commands, same pipelines, no translation needed. The project is still in preview. But the direction is unmistakable.

🚨 California Passed "The Stop Nick Shirley Act": This week the California Assembly passed AB 2624. This bill will criminalize investigative journalism involving the immigrant population. It would have made it illegal to expose the Somali "Learing" center if it were in California or the Armenian hospice fraud in LA if they claimed "reasonable fear." The bill protects "immigration support services providers," which means services provided to immigrants, including health care. It has been proven that millions, potentially billions, of dollars in fraud has taken place in "immigrant support services” which includes nonprofits and NGOs the state funds. California is trying to make it harder to expose fraud and scare individuals from investigating it as they could be forced and sued to remove the video, forced to pay attorney fees, and ordered to pay a minimum of $4,000 in damages. This bill was created by Mia Bonta (the attorney general's wife). She has made 4 separate versions of this bill because each version violates the 1st Amendment and is extremely unconstitutional. Plain and simple, California politicians need the fraud to continue because they depend on the fraud to push their agendas. END ALL THE FRAUD.

Every marine biologist learns the physics problem whale mothers face: How do you transfer liquid nutrients to your baby in an environment where liquids should instantly dissolve and disperse? Whale milk contains 30-50% fat content. Human milk is 4%. The evolutionary solution was to create something closer to toothpaste than liquid. When a whale calf latches underwater, the mother's mammary muscles contract like a hydraulic pump, shooting this dense mixture directly into the calf's mouth in concentrated bursts. I got the payload to this malware. It is absurdly silly. This malware is killing me bro. It is so unbelievably silly. This was 100% written using Claude or ChatGPT. I've never seen a malware payload LEAVE NOTES describing what it's doing. The malware has a Powershell script that connects to the C2 for stinky malware stuff. This module is responsible for persistence. Thankfully their persistence script documented the entire code base and file locations. Very cool. Thank you spoopy Russian Counter Strike scammers. Even more silly, the C2 is hardcoded as a string (seen in attached image). The C2 address shows it has been an active malware campaign since at least January 31st, 2026 based off of data present on VirusTotal. It was initially uploaded as "9lixh". This persistence script was from a victim machine so I've censored some data. Regardless, the botched cyrillic notes also makes me giggle.
