In 1992, In Living Color did a special *live* episode during halftime of Super Bowl XXVI. You had to switch from CBS to FOX to watch. It drew almost 30M viewers. The following year, the NFL pulled the Brinks truck up to Neverland Ranch. The birth of the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

It also should be noted that the ratings for Michael Jackson’s performance at the Super Bowl XXVII halftime show were better than the actual game itself.
