Retired Coast Guard Veteran From Baltimore: "Ain't no way that no tanker ship is gone crash into no bridge at night by mistak, question to all my Coasties out there...where the pilot boat at and where the tugboats at and where's the horn?

@DavidWolfe The question about tugs is a good one. According to Sal Mercogliano (from the "What's Going on With Shipping" YouTube channel), the tugs only are used to move the ships into the shipping lanes. But JFC! Considering the risk, you'd think they'd stay until the bridge is cleared!

@DavidWolfe It’s simple, they lost power and we’re going to fast on the turn. U don’t turn on the dime like a car it drifts. They missed to turn, turned too much and couldn’t stop because of the size. It’s not that deep
@DavidWolfe The tanker notified the proper authorities before they crashed. They knew they were about to crash because they lost power and reported it so the police closed the bridge on time.
@DavidWolfe And the boat pilot or captain is Ukrainian?
