Marriages are always growing together or they’re growing apart. Married couples need to budget their money together. You’re married—you’re not roommates. Money shouldn’t be a “me” thing, it should be a “we” thing.
I was on maternity leave with my son (10 years ago) when I saw a show from @DaveRamsey where he was talking about a gazel. Maybe 'talking' about it isn't the correct word but anyway. I spoke with my husband that afternoon, we made a plan and were debt-free in 6 months. We didn't have any mortgage but there was credit debt. If it was only me in the game, we'd still be in debt. Working together exceeded our expectations beyond our wildest dreams. It wasn't about the debt. It was our money mindset and changing it together.
