Since detailed pitch data started being kept in 2000, no Major League pitcher has ever thrown 60 or fewer pitches in a game and thrown 50 or more strikes. Jared Jones did tonight.
@DanZangrilli When is it about winning and not “fun with stats”, Dan. Have they given Cruz the exit velocity trophy yet?
@DanZangrilli I understand they want to be careful at a macro, season-long level - but you gotta have some better feel in-game. He could easily have gone another inning in a 1-0 game. There was zero stress. Add extra pitches/innings today, reduce or skip a start later
@DanZangrilli That’s because Shelton didn’t coach any of the other guys or he would’ve pulled them after 59 pitches also… maybe Shelton wanted him to get that record🙄
@DanZangrilli Wonder why that's never been done before lol #FIRESHELTON
@DanZangrilli I dont think this is anything to brag about. The opposite in fact
@DanZangrilli This stat means absolutely nothing. You can say, damn, that guy is amazing. But the stat is silly.
@DanZangrilli @PaulZeise And got yanked by the most underqualified manager in MLB history. Pathetic. Everything Shelton touches turns to dirt. Cheap owner hired the cheapest candidate...if there were other "candidates".
