I love that college athletes are getting paid, but reasonable transfer restrictions are needed. Complete freedom to transfer year-over-year diminishes the fan-program connection, makes college coaching less desirable, and probably only benefits the very top athletes.
@DaChicagoBadger Why shouldn't Essegian be allowed to transfer? One free transfer is perfectly fine. Kid was buried on the bench for some reason. He should be able to go somehwere he will play.
@DaChicagoBadger And it has totally robbed player development. Guys just transfer wherever to start/get minutes instead of getting better.
@DaChicagoBadger No way, I don't think anyone saw this as a result? #Sarcasm
@DaChicagoBadger NIL ruined college sports
@DaChicagoBadger Agreed. The problem now is there are less restrictions on college athletes to move than there is on pro athletes.
@DaChicagoBadger The toothpaste is out of the tube unfortunately. I don’t see NIL changing, only getting more exclusive to large schools. The NCAA is afraid to fight the transfer battle. Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride!
@DaChicagoBadger How does freedom/choice not benefit every athlete? Schools offer scholarships on a year to year basis. Athletes should be able to have year to year freedom at a minimum.
